John Medeski and Chris Wood met one another while attending the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, then decided to move to New York and explore its jazz culture. They crossed paths with Billy Martin, and officially formed a group that would push limits and explore new rhythms, textures and sound in music.

In 2008, the band released “Let’s Go Everywhere,” showing off their unique take on jazz.
