Ozzfest began in 1996 after Ozzy asked to be part of Lollapalooza and was turned down. He decided to start his own tour that featured acts more like his. The tour was an instant success, and now plays in several venues around the country and in Europe. Bands that have played with the tour include Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Slayer, Dimmu Borgir, Superjoint Ritual and Black Label Society, among other heavy hitters of heavy metal.
